PHYSICAL WORKSITE

Location: Tribeca/City Hall area, Manhattan, NY

Daily schedule: 9:00 AM — 5:00 PM

Specialist needed to determine eligibility of persons applying to receive assistance from government programs and agency resources.

Duties include:

  • Conducting intake with all incoming referrals through the system, along with incoming emails through the claim inbox
  • Assisting with the preparation and review of claimant’s documents
  • Once received, assistant will provide confirmation to Benefits Coordinator
  • Will conduct secondary review and updates to benefits coordinator of the assigned tracker page, identify all columns that may need to be updated or have not been filled in with pertinent information
  • Reach out to claimants that have been previously assisted with submitting a claim(s), 1 to 3-month check to ascertain the status if approved or denied
  • Providing specified forms to claimants pertaining to the type of claim in question, under the direction of the benefits coordinator
  • Reviewing applications. Requesting additional information
  • Accessing information from government administrative agencies
  • Updating database, analyzing materials and evaluating them to determine eligibility
  • Assisting with research, tracking and documentation activities

What you need to have

Skills
  • Must have a passion for effective analytical work, leadership, communication (verbal/written), and the interpersonal skills to work with various levels and positions within the organization
  • Possess the ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality for all levels and areas with the scope of work
  • Proficient in use of MS Office, especially MS Word and MS Excel; and job-specific applications/systems to produce correspondence, charts, spreadsheets, and/or other information applicable to the position
  • Have a desire to learn and adapt to new concepts, skill, and situations in real time
  • Able to work independently as well as in a team environment
Prior experience & qualifications
  • 4+ years customer service related experience
  • High school diploma or GED
