New Jersey Receives $15.6m Grant for Cleanup Employment

Similar to the program New York State is currently offering, New Jersey Department of Labor has set up a hotline for NJ residents interested in a temporary disaster relief job. Those interested can call the NJ DOL hotline at (877) 682-6238 or email them at sandyhelp@dol.nj.state.us.

Eligibility criteria is similar that offered by New York State's program:

  • Workers who have been temporarily or permanently dislocated as a result of the disaster;
  • Eligible dislocated workers who are unemployed and not receiving unemployment compensation (UI) or other types of income support (such as WorkFirst NJ);
  • Individuals who are long-term unemployed.

Job-seekers should report to local One-Stop Career Centers. They also may send e-mails to sandyhelp@dol.state.nj.us log onto www.Jobs4Jersey.com or call 1-877-682-6238 or 1-800-233-5005 between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.
